Sai Inspires - 13th July 2007

Pure vision naturally begets purity in speech by the refinement of the heart. Pure words must come out of the depth of the heart, which is a fountain of compassion. Constant examination of the purity of one's vision, speech and action is a spiritual exercise. It is this that helps to refine the heart.

- Divine Discourse, April 14th, 1998.

Any act that is done with purity in thought, word and deed is righteousness. - Baba

Sai Inspires - 12th July 2007

To realize one's Divinity, there is no need to embark on a long quest. Divinity is all-pervading and is present in and outside every being. Every man is an embodiment of the Divine. God is the Embodiment of Love. Man, who has emerged from God, is also an embodiment of love. But, because he expresses his love towards external objects, he is forgetting the truth about his inner being. Instead of limiting his love within narrow confines, man should extend it to all and thereby make his life purposeful and worthy.

- Divine Discourse, March 24th, 1998.

Love for the Divine should be inextricable bond. All other worldly attachments are impermanent. - Baba

Sai Inspires - 11th July 2007 from Prashanti Nilayam

Dear Reader,
Loving Sairam from the Heart2Heart Team.

Swami, today, explains to us what is true humanness.

Did you read the article
"New Vision, New Life"?

Sai Inspires - 11th July 2007

What is humanness? Essentially it means unity in thought, word and deed. When what one thinks differs from what he says and what he does, he ceases to be human... Today what men have to cultivate is unity and purity in thought, word and deed. True human qualities can grow only in a heart filled with spiritual aspirations, like a seed sown in a fertile soil and not on a piece of rock. Hence, to develop these qualities, men will have to develop compassion and equanimity amidst the vicissitudes of life.

- Divine Discourse, March 24th, 1989.

A man without love in his heart is as good as dead. - Baba

Sai Inspires - 10th July 2007

Man today has lost the fear of sin, the love of God and observance of social morality. This accounts for all the ills of society today. Pure vision leads to pure thoughts. Pure thoughts result in pure actions. Purity in action is essential for human existence. Purity in thoughts and purity in speech must lead to purity in deeds. This is the triple purity hailed by the sages. When this purity is manifest, human life gets redeemed. The principle of “Help ever, hurt never” becomes the governing principle of daily life.

- Divine Discourse, April 14th, 1998.

There is no strength more effective than purity. - Baba

Sai Inspires - 9th July 2007

Divinity is ever present in man in all its purity. But man is unable to recognize this because of his attachments to transient pleasures like the black bee. This bee has a proboscis with which it can bore a hole through a strong bamboo or even through the human body. But when it enters a lotus flower and the lotus folds itself, the bee is unable to get out of its tender petals because it is immersed in the enjoyment of the honey in the lotus and forgets its own real strength. Likewise, man today, forgetting the Divine that is present within him and in everything he beholds, immersed in worldly concerns and intoxicated with mundane pleasures. He is oblivious to his own true Divine nature. Man forgets his inherent capacity in the involvement with the mastery of the external world.

- Divine Discourse, April 23rd, 1988.

Sai Inspires - 8th July 2007 from Prashanti Nilayam

Dear Reader,
Loving Sairam from the Heart2Heart Team.

Scroll Down to read our Sunday Special:
" WHAT KIND OF BLISS IS OURS?"

Swami, today, provides a simple way to attain divine grace.

Did you read the article

in Puerto Rico"?

Sai Inspires - 8th July 2007

Only by the light of the Divine lamp inside can you blossom as a worthwhile person. Inner purity is the greatest wealth that one can acquire; it is the wick in the container of the heart. Devotion is the oil and Divine Grace is the fire with which the lamp of wisdom can be lit. The prime requisite for achieving Divine Grace is to have harmony in thought, word and deed.

- Divine Discourse, July 8th, 1995.

The God-centred person has three qualities: Purity, Perseverance and Patience. - Baba
WHAT KIND OF BLISS IS OURS?

The Halley's Comet is the most famous of all periodic comets. Although in every century many long-period comets appear brighter and more spectacular, Halley is the only short-period comet that is clearly visible to the naked eye, and thus has become a sort of legend on the earth. The description of the comet, the way it goes around the sun, it's lighted tail, etc. are all available- splashed liberally in the world wide web. But as a phenomenon, the comet's arrival has such diverse responses that it would be a good idea to check out the two extremes and let our imagination fill up the in-between states.

Let us consider the three friends Tom, Dick and Harry. They have always lived a carefree life and are happy-go-lucky about everything. “So how is this highly hailed Halley’s Comet something grander than sweet Potato?" asks Tom as he chomps on happily at the sweet potato dish specially prepared by Harry.
"Well.....it comes only once in 76 years!"
"So.....I mean...What do you want me to do?"
"See it tonight."
"Ok. What do I get if I see it tonight?” butts in Dick
"Well, nothing physical as far as I know...."
"See we know nothing of this metaphysical or psycho scientific stuff you talk about... So cut the crap and get to the point."
"It is an experience of a lifetime. It must be felt to be understood."
"Huh....you guys are crazy... Keep awake the whole night for some crazy stuff!"
And so as the comet passed over the earthly skies in 1986, Tom, Dick and Harry slept, blissfully ignorant, under their London home roof.
"Oh! How stupid it must be if you have to keep awake at night for things floating in the skies. There are things that float in the skies every night. Bah! Its high time we humans prioritize."

Let us now race across to another corner of the earth. At the Raman Research laboratory, there was a lot of excitement and anticipation. The night was a historic one- June 24, 2061. The first of such nights since the summer of 1986 when the comet had made its last appearance closest to the earth. It would be the culmination of a rather long wait. For some of the scientists, the goal of their lives was approaching and their entire focus was on the ethereal night sky. The joyful anticipation was surging and it was seen in the preparations being made for the event.
"This is something that a human being can see only once in a lifetime...."
"You know Mark Twain? He was born with the arrival of Halley's Comet in 1835, and his greatest wish was to make his final bow also with the comet. Coincidentally, the day following the comet's subsequent perihelion on April 21st 1910 , Twain breathed his last."
"Such men are chosen... Well I don't know about my final bow, but I feel that I sure will pass out even if I glimpse Halley tonight."

The comet arrived and then, went away. I wish I could write more about what the comet felt as it approached the earth and moved past it. But a comet's feelings are beyond the realms of mortal thoughts! However, while in the Tom, Dick and Harry world there was hardly a flutter; for some scientists and researchers at the Raman Institute, there was nothing else left in the world that they wanted to achieve. They felt fulfilled and peace radiated from their beings.

Now think of an event that happens once in 7,600 years. Then what about an event that occurs once in 76,000 years? Then what to say of the advent of an avatar?

The advent may be a periodic phenomenon, but it becomes sort of legendary when clearly visible to the naked eye. Like a comet, the phenomenon of the advent too has such diverse responses that it becomes impossible to even think of putting them down on paper. Once again, it would be a good idea to check out the two extremes and let our imagination fill up the in-between states! More importantly, where in the spectrum do we figure?
Do we end up as any Tom, Dick or Harry?
“What do I get by simply seeing Him?"
"Well nothing physical..."
"Cut the crap and get to the point."
"It is something to be experienced. Just stay and see. Don't miss an opportunity to see whenever you get one. "
"Huh you guys are crazy. I know nothing of this metaphysical or psycho scientific stuff you talk about...Waste so much time and money for a sight when He is supposed to be everywhere."

Or do we end up at least as a research scholar in the greatest search of life?
"This is something that we can see only once in a lifetime as a human..."
"Saints and sages have waited for His arrival. They have prolonged their lives and suffering only to see Him in human form."
"I don't know about them. But when I see Him, I may pass out in joy."

We may be happy and blissful. But is that bliss born out of ignorance or wisdom?

This is by a former student of Swami’s University, Sri B Aravind.

Jai Sai Ram.

Sai Inspires - 7th July 2007

We see in the world today disorder, violence and conflict. The world is like a sick man afflicted with many ailments. What is the cure for these ills? Man must shed his selfishness, greed and other bad qualities and rise above his animal nature. He must cultivate Charity (unselfishness) to achieve Purity. Through purity of hearts, men will achieve Unity, which will lead to Divinity.

- Divine Discourse, September, 1983.

The day you root out selfishness from within you, divinity will blossom in your heart. - Baba

How can we experience pure love? Swami tells us today.

"A Lifetime of Love"?

Sai Inspires - 6th July 2007

A life without love is meaningless. The more you love, the more it grows. True love should be distinguished from attachment either to persons or things. Attachment is based on selfishness. Love is based on selflessness. Love is the fruit which is born from the flower of your good deeds. Only when we engage ourselves in selfless service can we experience the essence of this pure love.

- Divine Discourse, December 11th, 1985.

When the Love Principle is known and practised, man will be free from anxiety and fear. - Baba

How can we sanctify our every activity? Swami tells us today.

"Conversation With Sai"?

Sai Inspires - 5th July 2007

One should not be concerned only about one's own welfare, career and prosperity. It is not for the enjoyment of personal possessions and comforts that man has taken birth. He has a greater goal to achieve, something more permanent and lasting. It is the realization of oneness with the Divine, which alone can give lasting bliss. Even while being engaged in the activities of the secular world, we should strive to sanctify all actions by dedicating them to the Divine.

- Divine Discourse, February 2nd, 1985.

There is no triumph more praiseworthy than surrender. - Baba

Dear Reader,

Sai Inspires - 4th July 2007

Instead of realizing his innate Divinity, man is caught up in the prison house of his own material achievements. Greater than all his scientific and technological progress is man himself as a being endowed with the Divine consciousness. By choosing to regard only the material world as real, it may be possible to bring about the prosperity of a scientific, technological and materialistic society for a time. But if, in the process, human selfishness, greed and hatred develop, as they usually do, society will destroy itself. If, on the contrary, the essential Divinity of man is realized, mankind can build up a great society based on unity and on adherence to the Divine principle of Love. This profound change must begin in the minds of individuals.

- Divine Discourse, October 31st, 1983.

It is not the standard of living that is important but the manner of living. - Baba

Sai Inspires - 3rd July 2007

If God is present everywhere, people ask why we are not able to see Him. The ocean water reflects the sun above. When the water is disturbed, the reflection of the sun is also disturbed. Similarly, God is in every man. But he is not able to see Him because of his disturbed mind. A disturbed and vacillating mind can never reflect God...Once you have the five senses under control, you can experience God. He is not far away from you. He is in you, below you, above you and all around you.

Sai Inspires - 2nd July 2007 from Prashanti Nilayam

Dear Reader,

Being a devotee, how can we lead a life of bliss? Swami tells us today.

The New Issue of
Heart2Heart is up!

Sai Inspires - 2nd July 2007

Without expressing your gratitude, you cannot aim to please God with anything that you may do. You will not attain any happiness in return. When you see your presiding deity, give a smile. Do not stand with a frowning face! With such a serious face, you can never hope to experience bliss. You must always be happy because bliss is your true nature. Always maintain a pleasant smile on your face. You may definitely encounter problems and obstacles in life. Grief and sorrow may sometimes assail you. Do not break down and cry. These are things that come and go. They are passing clouds and will never stay permanently to trouble you. Do not yield to them; face them head long instead. A steady faith in God will give you the satisfaction of being a true devotee.

- Divine Discourse, May 23rd, 2002.

Devotion to the Divine will give you bliss, prosperity and peace. - Baba
